Lifting Another up....

I believe that in order to have a happy employee you need to support and speak to the human condition.  What does that mean?

What I mean by this is that we have innate needs and tendencies.  This applies just about to all human beings.  We have a need for food, clothing, a safe place to stay and grow.  We need to be a part of something larger and believe it or not we are pack animals.  I would not have truly understood this unless I had not gotten a big dose of being excluded to help me understand.  It wasn't until I started to study horses with the dream of owning one that I saw it.

Exclusion to a herd animal means death.  With horses if they want to punish a herd member they exclude them.  A misbehaving horse is kicked out.  In the animal world it opens that horse up to extreme danger.  A lion could pounce and protection from the other horse family members would not be there.  When we exclude people in the work place it triggers a feeling of danger in us.

If you are being excluded then perhaps stop to think about this and maybe that is why you are feeling anxious.

The best job I ever had lifted me, taught me something new, trusted me and helped me grow.  I wasn't excluded.  I was included and trusted.

If you don't have this it's time to leave.

Ideally,

Can you remember a time where you did something and time flew by?  Maybe you spent a significant number of hours doing something and forgot to go get a drink of water or stop for a bite to eat.  You were doing something and time flew by and you didn't notice it because you were enjoying the process so much it just happened.  It was enjoyable and fun.  You were in the zone!  Well, that is a creative spiritual zone.  That's when you are accessing spirit.  It's a great way to know where you belong and what you were brought to this planet to contribute.  It is where your soul feels and is connected.

If you are looking for where you belong and what you should do then pay attention to these moments.

The first book I wrote was called Brad's Omen.  The cover doesn't look the best but I drew it on a computer.  The book was the result of actual things that happened.  It's a ghost story.  While I didn't see a ghost it was a great solution to some really strange things that happened.  I didn't come up with the entire story line.  I feel like it pretty much wrote itself.  After my daughter added the best part at the end I couldn't stop until I had it all down in writing.  There were times I'd be so engulfed in writing the story that I didn't see time passing.  It was a great way to know that perhaps writing was where I belonged.  While I make the expected typo here and there I feel like it's a natural place to be.
I've decided to do more of what feels natural to me.  So, here I am.  But, writing Brad's Omen was some of the happiest times I have ever had working at a project.  I really enjoyed it.  Then my other books happened.  It's like I'm not me if I don't write.

Hum....

Where do you belong?
